5 jaar Twitter in cijfers...

Twitter had 3 jaar, 2 maanden en 1 dag nodig voor om de grens van 1 miljard Tweets te doorbreken. Vandaag hebben ze daar nog slecht een week voor nodig. Een jaar geleden verzonden mensen 50 miljoen Tweets per dag, vandaag is dat aantal gestegen naar 140 miljoen en Twitter groeit nog steeds want op 11 maart j.l. stond de teller al weer op 177 miljoen Tweets.

Single Incision Bariatric Surgery

Just as laparoscopy revolutionized surgery in the early 90’s, single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) represents one of the greatest advances in minimally invasive surgery in the last several years. This novel surgical approach was born out of the quest for scarless surgery. With this approach, surgeons perform many procedures with a single incision through which multiple ports are placed. This incision can be placed at the umbilicus so that the patient is ultimately left with almost no scar or one that is cleverly hidden.

Bariatric procedures are technically challenging procedures when done with the traditional laparoscopic approach and require advanced minimally invasive skills. The single incision approach requires even more surgical skills from the surgeon. For the patient this technique provides the potential benefit of no scar, less pain and quicker recovery time.

Sterk! Amper 24 uur na de lancering van het nieuwe operating system, is een Duitser er reeds in geslaagd om het systeem te kraken. Het zou zelfs gaan om een 'untethered jailbreak' die continu op de iPhone of iPad aanwezig blijft, ook na uitschakelen van het toestel.

Alcohol & Gastric bypass

Patiënten vermelden frequent op postoperatieve controle na een gastric bypass operatie dat als ze alcohol gebruiken (bijv een lekker wijntje) dit vlugger 'in hun hoofd zit'. Sommige patiënten konden voor de operatie enkele glazen wijn drinken vooraleer ze daar iets van voelden. Na de gastric bypass vermelden ze dat ze datzelfde effect nu reeds hebben na 1 glas. De reden: het alcohol metabolisme (verwerking) verandert na de ingreep. Dit wordt eveneens aangetoond in onderstaande studie verschenen in de 'Journal of the American College of Surgeons', een vooraanstaand chirurgisch tijdschrift. De auteurs geven als raad mee nooit te drinken en te rijden na een gastric bypass en om de consumptie van alcohol te beperken tot maximaal één eenheid om de twee uur.

Chrome 10 nu te downloaden

Slechts 4 weken na het uitbrengen van Chrome 9 staat de volgende versie alweer voor de deur. Google heeft Chrome 10 officieel gelanceerd en deze is nu ook voor iedereen te downloaden. Het moordende update tempo van Google lijkt niemand bij te kunnen houden, wellicht is het een poging de concurrentie te ontmoedigen of wellicht aan te steken?
